New Delhi: British crocodile expert Adam Britton is facing a potential 249-year prison sentence in Australia. Britton, known worldwide for his work with crocodiles, has now been charged with horrific crimes against dogs. He was accused of violating, torturing, and killing more than forty dogs. His actions have led to him being called the ‘world's worst animal abuser’. In court, Britton broke down before the announcement of his punishment.

Britton is facing 60 charges related to animal sexual abuse. The crimes were committed inside a shipping container he had turned into a 'torture room,' according to The Sun. 

Courtroom drama

On Thursday, the NT Supreme Court judge Michael Grant took a dramatic step before the hearing began. He requested that staff and animal rights activists leave the room, fearing it could cause "nervous shock or some other psychological disturbance." The judge described Britton's actions as "grotesque cruelty to animals."

In addition to the animal abuse charges, Britton also faces four counts of possessing and distributing child abuse material and 37 counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
