A tragic incident happened in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi, when fire broke out at an apartment block, killing at least 30 people, including children, said the officials.
Reportedly, the fire broke out during the night in a nine-story building, having 150 residents, according to the official Vietnam News Agency (VNA), which said the blaze was contained by 2 am (1900 GMT).
Speaking to the media, an officer of Hanoi Police said that the number of victims had yet to be finalised. However, State-run Dan Tri and Saigon Giai Phong put the death toll at 30, citing Hanoi police.
Footages of the incident showed the firefighters dousing the fire and ladders at the scene by night, while there was a thick and dark cloud of smoke coming out from the building.
The injured were admitted to local hospitals immediately, said state media.
Amid the fire incident, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the site of the blaze on Wednesday and called for the completion of anti-fire regulations at small-sized apartment buildings and in densely populated residential areas, according to a government statement.
Further, the police are investigating this matter.
