The Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca on Tuesday announced that it is planning to withdraw the Covid-19 vaccinces from across the world, after the court acknowledged that the vaccine can cause the serious side effects. However, the pharma company has said that it is just a coincidence, vaccine is just being removed for the commercial reasons.

According to the sources, AstraZeneca has said that vaccine is no longer manufactred or supplied, adding that there is dip in the demand for the vaccine.

'Purely Coincident'

The pharma giant has called the withdrawal of the Covid-19 vaccine ‘purely conincident’  and asserted that the withdrawal is not linked to the claim that it can cause TTS - Thrombosis Thrombocytopenia Syndrome.

It is no longer authorized for usage in the European Union because the firm voluntarily revoked its "marketing authorisation". The application for withdrawal was filed on March 5 and became effective on Tuesday.

Subsequent Withdrawl Requests

The UK and other nations that have previously authorized the vaccine, known as Vaxzevria, will submit similar withdrawal requests.

Due of an uncommon adverse effect that can result in blood clots and low blood platelet counts, vaczevria is being closely monitored worldwide. AstraZeneca acknowledged that the vaccination "can, in very rare cases, cause TTS" in court filings that were submitted to the High Court in February.

In the UK, TTS has been linked to 81 or more deaths and multiple severe injuries. More than 50 purported victims and grieving family members have filed claims against AstraZeneca in a High Court.
