Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently made headlines by issuing a bold challenge to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. "I'll fight Zuckerberg any place, any time, with any rules," Musk declared with a smile while attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress.

Musk’s challenge quickly went viral on Threads, prompting a response from Zuckerberg: “Are we really doing this again?” The interaction ignited a flurry of reactions and opinions on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where users eagerly weighed in on the latest chapter in the tech titans' rivalry.

A history of Rivalry: Musk vs. Zuckerberg

The competitive banter between Musk and Zuckerberg has been ongoing, notably since their initial "cage match" challenge in 2023. Tensions between their companies, Tesla and Meta, escalated after Meta launched Threads, a text-based conversation app, in July 2023. This move led X to issue a cease-and-desist letter to Meta, accusing it of improperly using Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property.

Musk’s recent praise for Zuckerberg

Interestingly, Musk’s challenge came just a day after he praised Zuckerberg for Meta’s new AI model, Llama 3.1. This model, which Meta claims is superior to OpenAI’s GPT-4, is open-source and available for public use. Musk commended Zuckerberg's initiative, responding to a post by Andrej Karpathy, former AI director at Tesla, with: "It's impressive, and Zuck deserves recognition for making it open-source."

The dynamic between Musk and Zuckerberg continues to captivate the tech world, with each interaction adding a new layer to their storied rivalry.
