New Delhi: In a shocking turn of events, a 45-year-old woman named Vijayalakshmi from Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district has mysteriously vanished in Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur after a sudden collapse of the footpath she was walking on sent her tumbling into a hidden sewage drain. 

According to local police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, eyewitnesses reported that the woman was walking in the Dang Wangi area when the paved walkway suddenly gave way beneath her, plunging her into the 8-meter-deep abyss. The sudden collapse and potential sweep away by the underground water current have left authorities searching for answers and the woman's whereabouts.

Authorities launch massive rescue operation

In the aftermath of Vijayalakshmi's disappearance, civic authorities in Kuala Lumpur swiftly sprang into action, launching a comprehensive rescue operation to locate the missing woman. A concerted effort has been underway since the incident, with rescue teams working tirelessly to scour the area and locate any sign of Vijayalakshmi. However, despite their diligent efforts and searches, no trace of the missing woman had been found as of Saturday evening, leaving her family and loved ones anxiously awaiting any news of her whereabouts.

Business trips turn to uncertainty

Vijayalakshmi was a businesswoman who often travelled to Malaysia and Singapore for work. She was familiar with these countries and travelled there frequently, making her disappearance in Kuala Lumpur all the more unexpected.

State government swings into action

In the wake of Vijayalakshmi's disappearance, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken swift and decisive action, instructing officials from the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society to spearhead a comprehensive and efficient search operation. Additionally, the Chief Minister, in tandem with Minister for Human Resource Development Nara Lokesh, has been maintaining a vigilant and proactive stance, closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that all necessary resources and efforts are being mobilized to facilitate a successful outcome and the safe return of the missing woman.
