In the recent reports by Russian media house, the body of Alexei Navalny, a prominent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin who died in a Russian prison, was reported to have bruising on his head and chest while serving long prison at Arctic prison.
According to a Russian paramedic professional, who did not disclose his identity, said that Navalny’s head and chest were bruised when his body arrived at the mortuary.
The well-known opponent of Putin was transferred to the Salekhard District Clinical Hospital on Friday following his death in a distant local jail, where he had been housed since December. In 2020, the 47-year-old escaped from a suspected assassination attempt in which he had been poisoned with a nerve agent.
Speaking in Munich shortly after the announcement, Navalny's wife Yulia stated that she was unsure whether to believe the news because of what she claimed to be Russian disinformation. On Saturday, however, Navalny's spokesperson, Kira Yarmysh, officially declared him deceased. A notice of the death had been sent to his mother, who is 69 years old. According to the spokesman, 2:17 am is the moment of death in that notice.
The opposition leader seemed to have undergone attempts at resuscitation prior to his cardiac arrest, the paramedic observed, but "nobody is saying anything about why he had a cardiac arrest."
Married and a father of two, Navalny has been imprisoned since 2021 after returning home after what was allegedly an attempt on his life.
His representative, Kira Yarmish, tweeted on Saturday that the lawyer had been 'murdered.' She also mentioned in a subsequent post that Navalny's mother and attorney were not allowed to see him at the Salekhard morgue and that they believed the Russian government was covering it up.
In a subsequent post, Yarmysh shared a live cam footage of a midnight convoy possibly transporting Navalny’s body over the ice river crossing.
Three days after the announcement of Alexei Navalny’s death in the Arctic prison, his family still can’t claim or even see his body.

Meanwhile, Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, is scheduled to meet with European foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, according to the European Union's foreign policy chief.
She also shared an emotional post on her Instagram handle, captioning it, "I Love You".
