After abdominal surgery, Princess of Wales Kate to remain in hospital for up to 14 days

The Princess of Wales and Prince William's wife Kate Middleton is undergoing abdominal surgery in London and will remain admitted in the hospital for up to two weeks, according to Kensington Palace. While the nature of the surgery remains private, the palace confirmed it was "planned" and the procedure went well. In a statement, the palace said, "Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery."

Extended hospital stay

Princess Kate is expected to stay in the hospital for 10 to 14 days for observation and initial recovery. After returning home, her full recovery is expected to take several weeks which is going to impact her public engagements. "Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter," the palace statement clarified.

The palace clarified in the statement that Princess Kate apologized for any postponed engagements and acknowledged her desire to maintain normalcy for her children during this time. It also emphasized her wish for privacy regarding her personal medical information.

Upcoming schedule

Kensington Palace assured that updates on Princess Kate's progress will be provided only when significant new information becomes available. On the other hand, Prince William, who made his last appearance in public on January 18, is expected to adjust his schedule to support his wife's recovery while fulfilling his own royal duties.
