One of the deadliest terrorist assaults in American history was the September 9 attacks, and it is the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack in the United States. In its memory, people gather from New York‘s World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to Alaska. US President Joe Biden is going to attend a ceremony in Anchorage. The people who died in the attack were from 57 different countries, and About 3000 people were killed in this attack. Out of which 1,000 people have not been identified to date.

2 bodies identified

In a laborious process that relies on cutting-edge DNA sequencing tools to test body pieces recovered in the wreckage, New York City’s medical examiner has now been able to link remains to 1,649 World Trade Center fatalities

Days before the 22nd anniversary of the hijacked airliner attack, the remains of two people who perished in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center have been identified more than 20 years after the strikes. Marking the most recent success in the long-term effort to reunite victims with their families. The authorities confirmed the identification of the bodies of a man and a woman. At the request of their families, city officials suppressed their names.

The 9/11 massacre

On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four planes in the United States, two of which crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. A plane was shot down at the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Department, in Virginia. The fourth plane, filled with passengers and kidnappers, fell in Pennsylvania before reaching its destination. Regarding this aircraft, it was believed that its target was Washington, DC, the capital of America.

The causalities spoke volumes about the damage done

About 2,600 people were killed in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York, while 125 were killed at the Pentagon. In these incidents, 265 passengers and crew members on all four ships were also killed. The people killed in these attacks were from 93 different countries. 9/11 is considered the deadliest attack on the United States since the attack on Japan’s Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Terrorists Behind the 9/11

Of the 19 terrorists who hijacked the plane, 15 were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), one from Lebanon, and one from Egypt. Three ships had five kidnappers on board, while one had four kidnappers on board. The age of these kidnappers was very young; most of them were between 20 and 33 years old.

Khalid Sheikh Muhammad was appointed the mastermind of the attack. Who was arrested by the United States of America in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in March 1, 2003. Court proceedings are going on against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed for these attacks, but no decision has been taken yet. Along with Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, there were four other people including Ammar Al Balushi, Waleed Bin Atash, Ramzi Bin Sheeba, and Mustafa Ahmed Al Hasawi.

The takedown

Within a month of the September 11 attacks, then President George W. Bush attacked Afghanistan to eliminate Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. Other countries also helped America in this campaign. About ten years later, in 2011, the American army entered Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed Osama bin Laden.
