At least three people have died and four are injured after a wall of a family’s residential house collapsed in the Kandahar district of Afghanistan on Friday, Kabul-based news agency Khaama Press reported.

The accident, which happened in the Police District 9 of Kandahar City, caused the death of three family members in the house – the father, his wife, and one son. Two daughters and two sons have sustained injuries, and have been sent to the nearby Mirwais Hospital for immediate medical attention.

The accident was confirmed by Hafiz Sabre, the provincial spokesperson, who said that the collapse happened in a mud-made house at around 3:00 AM on Friday.

Afghanistan wall collapse caused by degradation; building tragedies common in Taliban country

The tragic incident was caused by the deterioration of the house wall, as per the Khaama Press report. Housing walls get damaged mainly due to extreme rainfall, earthquakes, and the decay of residential homes.

Several building damages and roof collapses have claimed scores of lives across the country, as the country grapples with a massive humanitarian crisis since the Taliban seized power last year.

The local residents of Afghanistan have urged the Taliban authorities to improve the housing infrastructure in the country; however, no improvements have been seen to date.
