We all know how dangerous cocaine can be. One woman's nose was damaged after she overdosed on cocaine. Her face was disfigured. Kelly Kozyra was partying in 2017 when a friend offered her a line of cocaine. Within months, the 38-year-old was addicted to cocaine, using the class-A drug day and night and skipping food and sleep to maintain her habit.

Kelly, from Chicago, Illinois, US, soon began bleeding from her nose and pulling pieces of flesh out of her nostrils. Despite thinking the damage would heal on its own, Kelly continued to take cocaine and spent £63,000 on the drug over 19 months.

She went through 15 nose operations

Kelly compared her deformed snout to that of TV personality Danniella Westbrook, whose infamous drug abuse led to the decay of her septum. After family intervention, Kelly opted for sobriety in 2021 and has since undergone 15 operations to repair her damaged nose.

Kelly said, I met some old friends and started taking cocaine with someone there. I started taking cocaine day and night. I was neither eating nor sleeping. I was working, but eventually I had to leave the job. I was taking cocaine daily for three months, then my nose started bleeding and pieces of skin started coming out, then I noticed that the septum was getting damaged. I thought this could not happen to me. I thought it would heal on its own, but I still continued to sniff. The septum got completely damaged. Then I got a hole on the outside of my face, which grew to the size of a penny coin.

How COVID kept her secret safe?

Kelly said, I had to put my little finger in my nose to keep all the cocaine in there so that I couldn't take it out of the hole. My nose looked just like Danielle Westbrook's. I was lucky that during COVID everyone was wearing masks, so no one could see my face. I kept telling people that I had a sinus infection and I was lying.

Kelly has undergone 15 surgeries to fix her nose, including removing skin from her forehead and creating a new nasal tip.
