Israel-Hamas conflict: In accordance with the four-day Gaza truce agreement with Israel, Hamas freed Abigail Edan, a four-year-old American hostage, on Sunday. Shortly after the Israeli army reported that 17 hostages were being released by Hamas, US President Joe Biden declared her release. Biden told the media, "She's free and in Israel now. She's been through a terrible trauma."

Here's all we know about Abigail Edan:

On October 7, during their surprise attack in Israel, Hamas terrorists stormed Abigail's kibbutz, Kfar Azza, and killed her parents in front of her.

Abigail succeeded in fleeing to the house of a neighbour, where she sought safety with Avihai Brodetz and his family. According to Brodetz, his wife Hagar, forty, and their three children were abducted while he was attempting to protect the Kfar Aza kibbutz.

He learned a few days later that they had not only survived the attack but also that Abigail, the neighbor's child who had taken sanctuary in their home, had also been taken hostage. The oldest child, Ofri, turned ten years old while being held captive in Gaza. Yuval, her younger brother, is four years old, and Oria is eight.

Abigail is a dual citizen of the US and Israel. On Friday, the four-year-old Hamas victim celebrated her birthday while being held captive in Gaza.

On Sunday, two of Abigail's relatives expressed their gratitude to Biden, the Qatari government, and other individuals who helped to secure her release. They also reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the "safe and swift return" of all hostages.
