World News: Perhaps the biggest "what if" in Hollywood, this actor was one of those young stars that compete with Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, whose career and private life both went chaotic as his addiction, scandal, and personal drama played themselves out.
During the 1980s, Hollywood was on the lookout for its next big star, and Charlie Sheen, who was quite young, overnight became the talk of the industry through his work in the 1984 'Red Dawn'. At 20, Charlie was already equal to Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp as he began to appear in 'Platoon' in 1986 and 'Wall Street' in 1987, hence securing himself a place as Hollywood's brightest new prospect.
Charlie Sheen was the hope of the future in the movie industry during the late '80s and early '90s. However, with the mid-90's the ball started to roll towards other leaders and heroes like Bruce Willis and Tom Cruise heading the biggest blockbusters. Even then however, Sheen still was a big presence in movies like 'The Rookie' and 'Cadence', not yet the man to beat from Hollywood.
Super Star to a Tainted Star In 1998, Sheen suffered from an overdose of cocaine, leading him to stroke and experience an abyssal private life with full coverage of scandal: drugs and private divorce from wife Denise Richards with many more police cases in and out. He then moved to television, and, for a time, he was back with a vengeance when he landed the hit series in 2003 with *Two and a Half Men*.
By 2011, Sheen's personal problems finally caught up with him and dumped him in the dumpster. Another very public relapse into hard drugs and a very public falling out with the writer of 'Two and a Half Men', Chuck Lorre, means he was canned from the show. From there, things only continued downhill, including announcing his HIV diagnosis in 2015 and getting investigated for potential crimes in 2017.
