75,000 Pro-Palestinian protesters encircle White House, demands 'immediate ceasefire' in Gaza

A "two-mile long" red banner was unveiled by members of the Answer Coalition which is among the activist groups that have participated in the protest. The banner symbolised the 'red line' that Biden has let Israel cross when it invaded Rafah. “Biden’s red line was a lie!” read one of the pickets frequently used by the protesters.

A massive crowd of pro-Hamas protesters have descended upon the White House, blasting Joe Biden's administration for extending support for the Jewish state. Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have gathered outside the White House urging President Biden to immediately stop all the military aid to Israel and initiate a ceasefire putting an end to the destructive war in Gaza. The United Nations has committed over $38 billion in military aid to Israel over 10 years. The protesters said that they want the US to stop funding at all costs.

Protesters carried signs calling Biden dishonest

A "two-mile long" red banner was unveiled by members of the Answer Coalition which is among the activist groups that have participated in the protest. The banner symbolised the 'red line' that Biden has let Israel cross when it invaded Rafah. “Biden’s red line was a lie!” read one of the pickets frequently used by the protesters.

A video showing the unveiling of the banner by the group was posted on X. It was captioned, "HAPPENING NOW: Over 75,000 are in DC, and the White House is now completely encircled by #ThePeoplesRedLine! This two-mile long banner lists the over 40,000 Palestinians martyred by Israel since Oct. 7."

The group has been consistently warning the Biden government of initiating such massive protests, saying that they demand an immediate ceasefire, an immediate end to the siege on Gaza and the freedom of all Palestinian prisoners and an end to the occupation of Palestine.

In another video smoke bomb flares were seen being ignited by some of the protesters, and then being thrown on the White House lawn.

Why protest?

Eight months have passed since the beginning of this murderous war that has led to widespread destruction causing the death of more than 15,500 children in Gaza, and thousands of people have lost their lives. Tens of thousands of people are currently protesting in front of the White House, proving that Biden's attempt to transfer enormous amounts of weaponry and ammunition to Israel while lying to the world about promoting peace talks and a ceasefire has backfired. People are demanding an immediate stop to the war that is taking unexpected turns with each passing day.

Security around the White House

Fencing was erected around the White House compound in the aftermath of last year's October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, as it was anticipated that similar protests would occur. The newly built fence serves as an additional line of defense even though a barrier already encircled the property. Additionally witnessing the events unfolding since this weekend, there have been preparations including public safety measures like anti-scale fencing have been put in place near the complex to avoid any miscreants entering.
