70 killed after massive earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck Nepal

At least 70 people have been killed after a massive 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal late on Friday, November 3. Tremors were felt across the Delhi-Ncr region and some other parts of north India as well.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the epicentre of the quake was in Nepal at a depth of 10 km.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:6.4, Occurred on 03-11-2023, 23:32:54 IST, Lat: 28.84 & Long: 82.19, Depth: 10 Km," NCS said in its post on X.

Nepal earthquake death toll 

 

As per the latest reports at least 36 people have been confirmed to be dead in Rukum West, the toll is further expected to increase, said Chief District Officer of Rukum West Hari Prasad Pant.

Moreover, another 4 people have been confirmed to be dead in Jajarkot. Several people have been injured and some are even in critical situations. They have been sent to Surkhet for further treatment, said Chief District Officer of Jajarkot.

 

Nepal Prime Minister on earthquake 

 

The Prime Minister of Nepal also shared a post on X(Twitter) expressing his sorrow over the loss of life and property in the earthquake that hit Nepal on Friday.

“Honorable Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" has expressed his deep sorrow over the human and material damage caused by the earthquake at Ramidanda in Jajarkot at 11:47 on Friday night and has mobilized all 3 security agencies for the immediate rescue and relief of the injured,” the post read.
