In a recent blast attack in Pakistan, at least seven people were killed, including the chairman of a Union Council (UC), in a landmine blast targeting a vehicle in the Panjgur district of Balochistan on Monday night, said media reports.

7 people killed in blast incident in Balochistan’s Panjgur district

Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Panjgur Amjad Somro said, “Miscreants had planted a remote explosive device to target a vehicle carrying Balgatar UC Chairman Ishtiaq Yaqoob and others who were returning from a wedding ceremony.”

The official said that as soon as the vehicle reached Chakar Bazar in the Balgatar area, the device detonated, resulting in the loss of seven lives.

According to the office, the deceased were identified as Mohammad Yaqoob, Ibrahim, Wajid, Fida Hussain, Sarfaraz and Haider, said the reports adding that they hailed from Baltagar and Panjgur districts.

The deceased relatives ascertained four out of seven deceased at a hospital in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, said an official.

However, further details are yet to be disclosed about the blast incident.

Similar blast incident

A similar incident occurred in September 2014, where Yakub Balgatri, father of Ishaq Balgatri, and 10 of his companions were also killed in the same area in September 2014. The outlawed Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the attack. It is said that the officials fear the involvement of the same organisation behind this recent blast incident.
