500 million pounds from UK and foreign aid package from US: Volodymyr Zelensky thank UK and US

The UK has allocated the largest defense support package for Ukraine to date, worth half a billion pounds.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that thanked Britain's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for the largest-ever military aid package from worth 500 million pounds (619 million US dollars) to Ukraine. According to the official information, the package will contain Storm Shadow and other types of missiles, hundreds of armored vehicles and watercraft, and ammunition.

Taking it to his X handle, Zelensky said, “I am grateful to the UK and personally to Prime Minister Sunak for such a strong demonstration of support and for the willingness to further develop our defense cooperation, especially with an emphasis on maritime and long-range capabilities.”

Zelensky also discussed the need for an effective model for confiscating frozen Russian assets. Apart from this, they also shared the expectations for the upcoming Peace Summit in Switzerland and the European Political Community Summit in the UK.

US Senate approves aid to Ukraine

Other than the United Kingdom, the United States Senate has also approved vital aid to Ukraine. 

According to the sources, the US Senate is poised to approve the multibillion-dollar national security package, having cleared a procedural hurdle that would have allowed for a final vote, days after the US House of Representatives approved a USD 95.3 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and other US allies.

During the floor speech, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer declared that "it is now time to finish the job to help our friends abroad once and for all."

The bill gives Ukraine USD 60.8 billion, more than 80 percent of which is intended to support Kyiv in its current conflict with Russia, including restocking US-made ammunition and weaponry.

Appreciating the step, the Ukrainian President applauded President Biden's support through his X handle he looked forward to the bill being signed soon and the next military aid package matching the resoluteness.
