Fifteen-year-old girl from Lesotho was getting medical attention for a weird case. She was reportedly pregnant despite the lack of a natural vaginal canal. The oddity was reported in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a display of the marvels and complexities of human biology.
She was admitted to the hospital in 1988 because of unbearable abdominal pain, similar to labor pains. Upon examination, doctors confirmed her pregnancy, in labor by that time. But how about the fact that there was no vaginal canal in the case of a girl that might help her conceive?
She had been diagnosed with vaginal atresia, which is extremely rare congenital dysfunction when a vagina lacks a natural passage. This defect occurs at 1 in 4,000 to 10,000 newborns as a result of which natural conception is impossible without medical Fix, normally treatment like IVF. But, the girl had not undergone even that had in other treatments.
So, there was no possibility of a vaginal canal to allow for cesarean delivery of the baby and the procedure went off without a hitch. The baby weighed 6.2 pounds in perfect health. But how did the girl get pregnant is still a mystery.
The girl said she had thought about changes in her body, but she never thought about pregnancy because of her medical condition and lack of traditional intercourse. The answer to the investigation seemed very curious. Months before she had been stabbed in the abdomen by an aggressor. But at the time before that, she did have oral sex with her new partner.
Doctors thought it was truly possible that sperm could enter her reproductive organs through the horrible hole in her stomach made during that attempt. Supporting evidence in the face of the child bore lofty resemblance to the father dismissed any stupendous miraculously accomplished mating. On another hand, malnutrition in the girl lowered stomach acidity and allowed the sperm to survive long enough to kill the egg.
