A tragic incident has come to light from the United States of Ohio where a man, who has been identified as Edward Murray, 23, has been arrested after being accused of murdering his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son.

According to the sources, he has been charged with murder, felonious assault and child endangering after getting arrested on May 10.

The paramedics were called to a Cincinnati home on May 1, where they found the child unresponsive. To save the life of the child, he was sent to the intensive care unit at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for treatment. But the child was declared dead on May 5, as per reports of WCPO.

Horrific revelations

An investigation into the one-year-old's horrific injuries showed that he had suffered cardiac arrest, which resulted in brain damage, a shattered rib, a lacerated liver, bleeding eye tissue, and brain swelling. The physicians examining the child's case said that such grave injuries "could only have occurred from violent impacts against objects or from delivered blows."

What did the prosecutor say?

As per the WCPO, Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said in a press release that child abuse experts at Cincinnati had made revelations that the injury experienced by the child could have occurred from violent impacts against objects or from delivered blows. She added that the case was both heartbreaking and sickening, difficult for her to believe that such an abhorrent act was done to hurt an innocent child.

Were in a relationship for the last three months

Murray and the child's mother, Aminata Keita were dating for roughly three months. According to the police's statement, Murray was playing with the child on the night the kid died. He told the police that the child was exhausted and therefore he carried him "inside and straight to bed, skipping dinner."

The couple had also consumed marijuana and forgot to check on the child again that night. The next morning, the child was discovered to be unresponsive while Murray was alone with him.

No criminal background

In defence of Murray's suspected participation in killing the child, his attorney said to WCPO that he is not a typical murder suspect with zero criminal background. He added that even Keita's mother does not believe Murray was responsible for the death of her grandchild.
