‘Human trafficking’ followed landing of plane carrying 300 Indians on France grounds? Probe on

At a French airport, 303 passengers, the most of whom were of Indian descent, were "detained on a technical halt" on a flight from Dubai to Nicaragua.

The Indian consulate in France has made contact with and been granted access. In addition to this, the authorities are looking into the matter, they are making sure that the passengers are safe.

"French authorities informed us of a plane w/ 303 people, mostly Indian origin, from Dubai to Nicaragua detained on a technical halt at a French airport. Embassy team has reached & obtained consular access. We are investigating the situation, also ensuring wellbeing of passengers," the Indian embassy in France wrote on X.

According to the sources, soon after getting the information, the concerned authorities stepped in and grounded the plane after an anonymous tip-off that some of the passengers on board were "victims of human trafficking".

Reports also claim that two people in connection with the case have been detained and being questioned by an investigation unit of organised crime. 

As per news agencies, officials suspect that it's possible that the passengers intended to go to Central America in order to try and enter the US or Canada illegally.

To provide the best possible accommodations for passengers, the Vatry airport's reception area has been converted into a waiting area with individual beds. The Paris Public Prosecution Office's specialty unit is looking into any affiliation with organised crime.
