Hamas treated us well: Israeli women hostage who was set free

The 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz was one of two women freed late Monday, according to media.

Once in Gaza, Lifshitz said the terrorists took her into tunnels that she compared to a spider's web and treated her well.

She said that a doctor also visited her while she was held in a network of tunnels within Gaza and that all her needs had been taken care of.

Addressing a press conference, Lifshitz said, “Hamas treated us gently and met all our needs.”

“I've been through hell, we didn't think or know we would get to this situation,” she added.

Further, the elderly woman said that she had been put on a motorbike and driven from her kibbutz into nearby Gaza.

"When I was on the bike, my head was on one side and the rest of my body on the other side. The young men hit me on the way. They didn't break my ribs but it was painful and I had difficulty breathing."

Women released on humanitarian ground: Hamas spokesman

On Monday, Hamas released two Israeli women, who were held captive with 200 others taken during its October 07 rampage in southern Israel. The women were released on humanitarian and poor health grounds, said a Hamas spokesman on their Telegram group.

The two Israeli women were kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz, near the Gaza border, along with their husbands, who were still held by Hamas, a statement by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office said. Hamas freed them after releasing an American woman and her daughter on Friday.

All four were kidnapped in Hamas’ surprise and unprecedented October 07 attack on Israel, which killed over 1,400 people.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Gaza from two weeks of air strikes exceeded 5,000, the Palestinian health ministry reported. The total death toll so far stands at 6,400.
