Actor Anupam Kher starrer film ‘The Kashmir Files’ won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony held on Thursday. The film, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, sheds light on the plight of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 insurgency in Kashmir.
Responding to the news, Anupam Kher took to the social media platform X to express his joy and pride. He wrote, “NATIONAL AWARD: Delighted and proud that #TheKashmirFiles won the prestigious and most important #NationalAward – Nargis Dutt award for #BestFeatureFilm on national integration. Not only as an actor but also being an executive producer on the film I am so happy for this recognition for our film. Reacting to the achievement, director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri expressed his gratitude and dedication to the film’s cause, saying, “I am in America and got the news in the morning that ‘The Kashmir Files’ has won the 69th National Award. It is one of the most prestigious awards of our country. I have always said that ‘The Kashmir Files’ is not only my film but it’s a film for all the Kashmiris, who have been the victim of terrorism in the Valley. It’s the voice of plight of Kashmiris who faced terrorism and it’s medium through which their pain was shared with the whole country. I dedicate this award to all the victims of terrorism.”
Pallavi Joshi, who portrayed Professor Radhika Menon in the film, won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 69th National Awards.
Directed by Agnihotri, ‘The Kashmir Files’ stars Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, and Darshan Kumaar in prominent roles. The movie is a fictional story that delves into the life of Kashmiri Pandits during the events of the 1990 insurgency in Kashmir.
Originally released on March 11, 2022, ‘The Kashmir Files’ made a mark on the global stage by being listed in the Oscars 2023 reminder list.
