Carl Weathers, who sadly passed away earlier this year on February 1, 2024, was a multifaceted individual known for his achievements in both acting and American football. Weathers is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of the charismatic boxer Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films (1976-1985). He also played memorable roles in movies like Predator (1987) as the tough-as-nails Colonel Al Dillon and voiced Combat Carl in the Toy Story franchise. Beyond acting, Weathers directed episodes of popular shows like Hunter (1989-1990) and Lonesome Dove (1994).
He earned his Emmy nomination in 2021 for the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian," in which he played Greef Karga in nine episodes across three seasons. Weathers stepped into the director's chair for Episodes 12 and 20 of the "Star Wars" spinoff.
