The suspenseful action scenes in the Mother trailer feature Jennifer Lopez’s character pursuing those who have kidnapped her daughter, whom she had to give up long ago. Additionally, it gives the first glimpse of Hector Alvarez, the antagonistic character Gael Garcia Bernal plays.

Niki Caro (Mulan) directs The Mother from a screenplay by Misha Green (Lovecraft Country), with Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) revising it. Jennifer Lopez plays Adrian Lovell, Joseph Fiennes plays Zoe, Omari Hardwick plays FBI agent William Cruise, Paul Raci plays Jons, and Gael Garca Bernal plays arms dealer Hector Alvarez.

Through their Nuyorican Productions, Lopez and Elaine Goldsmith Thomas serve as executive producers of The Mother. Green and Benny Medina are producing along with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Courtney Baxter is also an associate producer, and Catherine Hagedorn has joined the project as an executive producer.

The “Hustlers” actress appears in the video, released on Tuesday, as an assassin in hiding who must rescue her young daughter, who is the target of a group of people who look evil.

In the beginning of the mother, Lopez’s character talks to Nurse Jackie star Edie Falco, who tells her she must “disappear” to keep her child safe.

While Lopez is seen training in the snowy wilderness, her daughter Lucy Paez is kidnapped from a playground, which sets off an intense pursuit.

Later, when Paez tries to figure out who her savior is, the pair interact after Lopez’s matriarch saves the child.

When Lopez’s character says, “She needs protection right now,” she doesn’t hesitate to arm herself, teach the 12-year-old how to use a knife, or even drive a car.

Her two adversaries are played by Joseph Fiennes and Gael Garca Bernal, with Omari Hardwick in the cast.

“Shotgun Wedding,” Lopez’s last film, was released in January on Prime Video.

“The Mother” starts gushing on Netflix on May 12.

The international singer, dancer, and actor play a former murderer in the trailer, leaving behind her old life and family to protect her now 12-year-old daughter. The trailer reveals that the FBI cut an arrangement with Lopez after killing a few specialists, and two dangerous men were still running free. Lopez’s character is forced to escape hiding and re-enter her life to save her daughter when she is kidnapped many years later. En route, she torments, shoots, wounds, and headbutts the criminals’ men and shows her girl how to make due despite the risk.

In the trailer, Lopez says, “I’m a killer, but I’m also a mother,” which perfectly sums up the movie.

Joseph Fiennes , Omari Hardwick, Lucy Paez, Paul Raci, and Gael Garcia Bernal are all in the cast. Here is the authority logline: ” While on the run from dangerous men, the deadly female assassin reaches out of hiding to protect the daughter she gave up years ago.

The screenplay was written by Misha Green, Andrea Berloff, and Peter Craig, with Green writing the story. Lopez, Green, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, and Marc Evans are among the producers. Molly Allen oversees production.

On Friday, May 12, “The Mother” will be available on Netflix, just in time to watch with any mother who enjoys violent films or J.Lo.
