On September 12, the trailer for the movie ‘The Great Indian Family,’ starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar was made public. The movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on September 22nd, is a humorous social comedy made by YRF Films.

Vicky’s character in the trailer is constrained by his status as a Pandit, which prevents him from getting the kind of attention he wants from the people he likes. He also comes from a large, devoted family, and everything appears to be going according to plan until his religious affiliation is questioned. And the moment it happens, everyone realises that he is not who he seems to pretend to be or knows to be, which causes a lot of bewilderment and laughter.

More on the trailer

The trailer starts with Vicky introducing his character as Bhajan Kumar and his family who do pooja, and katha. They are Brahmins and have a good name in the society. Manushi is also introduced but her character has not been introduced in the trailer. However, as the trailer advances, there is a major twist shown. Vicky comes to know that he is not a legal child of his parents and belongs to a Muslim family. Then the real story starts as his family has disowned him. It will be interesting to see how the situation has been handled. The film’s plot seems to be similar from the 2015 Paresh Rawal comedy drama ‘Dharam Sankat Mein.’

The director’s comments

Director of the film, Vijay Krishna Acharya, in conversation with the media, said, “The Great Indian Family is a family entertainer that is aimed at evoking a community-watching experience like no other. We are set to release the trailer of the film tomorrow! TGIF is a film about the special, unbreakable bond that family members have for each other in India. I’m excited to see the reaction of the people to our trailer. I hope they love it and engage with the film and have a conversation about the message of our movie.”

Manushi can’t control her excitement

Sharing her excitement, Manushi Said, “I’m super excited and thrilled that two of my films have been announced today. ‘Operation Valentine’ and ‘The Great Indian Family’. Two films on the very same day! Both drastically different genres. ‘Operation Valentine’ is an action – drama, it’s an air force action which is very different from ‘The Great Indian Family’ which is a family entertainer, a very light hearted, sweet story. Two roles, two shades, two announcements – only Gratitude. In both films, people will get to see me in completely different roles. I have absolutely enjoyed shooting for both the films and I’m very excited for their release.”
