Tamil stunt master, Kanal Kannan arrested for posting controversial video

After posting a controversial video that has sparked a conversation, famous action choreographer and actor Kanal Kannan has been arrested by the cyber crime police in Nagercoil city of Tamil Nadu. Kannan was arrested based on a complaint lodged by a DMK leader for hurting religious statements.

A tweet by news agency ANI confirmed Kannan’s arrest and wrote, “Kollywood stunt master and actor Kanal Kannan arrested by cyber crime police in Nagercoil for sharing a video of a pastor dancing with a woman, on social media: Tamil Nadu Police.”

The stunt master’s arrest came after he posted a video on his Twitter account, showing a pastor dancing with a young woman. 

This video has shared on June 18 by Kanal Kannan, which went viral and ignited a conversation with the netizens. Sharing the video on Twitter, he wrote in Tamil “This is the true state of foreign religious culture???!!!! Think converted Hindus!!!! Repent!!!”

Taking notes from his career, the action choreographer worked with several leading actions in the Tamil film industry, such as Superstar Rajnikant to Thalapathy Vijay. 

He is also the chief of Hindu Munnani

Apart from his acting and stunt career, he is also the state president of the popular Hindu organization Hindu Munnani and leads its Art and Literature Wing. In a tweet, Hindu Munnai condemned the arrest and said they would hold a protest on 11th July at 4 PM against the action taken by the state police.

According to the PTI report, Kannan was arrested for his controversial remarks against rationalist leader Periyar EV Ramasamy, following a complaint from a Dravidian outfit.
