Tamil actress Sindhu passes away after 3-year battle with breast cancer

Tamil actress Sindhu, famous for her performance in Vaantha Balan’s 2010 hit ‘Angadi Theru’ (Market Street), passed away on Monday morning at the age of 44 after a long battle with cancer.

The actress, who had been battling breast cancer since her diagnosis in 2020, breathed her last around 2 AM.

According to media reports, Sindhu had been undergoing treatment at home as she could not afford the expenses of cancer treatment at a hospital. As her health deteriorated, she sought treatment at a private hospital in Kilipakkam, Chennai.

In a plea on social media a while back, Sindhu had requested financial assistance for her rising medical expenses, prompting several celebrities including Karthi, Isari Ganesh, and Satish Kumar, to pitch in with help.

In a heart-wrenching interview a few months before her passing, A teary Sindhu openly discussed her battle with breast cancer, revealing that she had undergone a mastectomy. She also said that she was unable to live in such extreme pain and agony, and expressed her desire to end her suffering, appealing for mercy killing.

The sombre news was shared by fellow actor Kottachi on social media, accompanied by a photograph of the late actress. “Today at 2.15 in the morning, film actress Angadi Teru Sindhu died naturally,” he wrote, adding, “I pray to God for the peace of his soul.”

The loss affected the Tamil film fans, and condolences and tributes poured in. ‘Angadi Theru’ co-star Pandi also offered his last condolences to the departed actress.

After her untimely demise, Sindhu’s mortal remains have been brought home, where friends, family, and colleagues will pay their final respects. The actress’s last rites are scheduled to take place at Virugambakkam’s electric graveyard.
