‘Swades’ actress Gayatri Joshi, hubby Vikas Oberoi meet with car accident, leaves elderly couple dead in Italy

Swades actress Gayatri Joshi and her husband Vikas Oberoi met with an accident while travelling in Italy. The couple’s car was involved in a multiple-car collision.

Details of collision 

According to media reports, the couple’s Ferrari and a Lamborghini were trying to overtake a camper van at the same time which resulted in the collision. The Ferrari as well as the camper van apparently caught fire after the accident.

The incident is said to have taken place during the Sardinia Supercar Tour as part of which luxury cars parade from Teulada to Olbia. An early couple from Switzerland identified as Melissa Krautli, 63, and Markus Krautli, 67 also died in the collision.

Following the accident, Gayatri made a statement saying that their car had met with an accident but they both were ‘absolutely fine’, as media reports. She said “Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here (multiple-car collision).. With gods grace, we both are absolutely fine.”

Gayatri ventured into the world of Bollywood with her debut movie as Geeta in Swades, against Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. However, the actress did not stay in the film industry for long and left it despite winning quite a few awards. Later she got married to the businessman Vikas Oberoi in 2005 and has two kids.

She also won the Femina Miss India International pageant in 2000.
