Sophie Turner sues ex Joe Jonas, demands return of daughters to England amid divorce

The megastar divorce between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas has hit another low as the Game of Thrones actress has sued her estranged husband for the return of their two children to England, as per media updates. While Joe (34) wants a joint custody of their two daughters, Sophie (27) wants to take the children back to her native country.

The lawsuit filed by Sophie states “The Father has prevented the children’s return to England, which is a breach of the Mother’s rights of custody under English law, England being the children’s habitual residence.”

The couple have two daughters Willa, 3, and the one-year-old daughter whose name hasn’t been disclosed yet. Sophie alleges that Joe agreed to hand over their daughters, once she visits Manhattan personally to pick them up after wrapping up the shoot of her show Joan in the UK.

However, the lawsuit says that Joe refused to let the kids go when Sophie arrived in the city to pick them up on September 17. The petition said that Mr Jonas had the children’s passports but refused to hand them over and send them with Ms Turner back to England, according to media reports.

Ms Turner’s attorney invoked child abduction provisions of the Hague Convention, an international treaty signed by more than 100 nations, including the United States, that seeks to compel the return of children abducted by a parent from their countries of “habitual residence.” Her lawyer has also cited the “wrongful detention” of their children in New York.

Meanwhile, Joe Jonas has denied such claims and his representative said that a court in Florida has issued an order blocking either parent from relocating their children., as per media reports.

Sophie and Joe decided to file for divorce on September 5 after four years of marriage. The reasons behind this have not been disclosed yet however, several speculations and theories are coming up online.

Joe has been busy touring with his brothers, Nick and Kevin, for the Jonas Brothers concert tour across the US while Sophie was busy shooting for the British series Joan. In the concert of Jonas Brothers in Joe Jonas Joe seemingly addressed the situation and said “I just wanna say, look, if you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it, okay? Thank you for the love and support. Me and my family, we love you guys.”

Meanwhile, Sophie was seen handing out with singer-songwriter and Joe’s ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift upon her return to the US from the sets of Joan in the UK.
