The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’, giving the film a U/A certificate, signifying its suitability for a wide range of audiences with parental guidance. The certificate was issued after the censor board recommended seven significant changes to the film, which will be directed by Atlee and produced under the Red Chillies banner by Gauri Khan.

The Censor Board’s green light was accompanied by a list of seven notable modifications that were deemed necessary. At a runtime of approximately 169.18 minutes, these changes encompass various aspects of the film, ranging from dialogues to violent scenes. The alterations aim to enhance the overall viewing experience while ensuring content adheres to acceptable standards.

Censor board removes President, NSG references from ‘Jawan’

One significant change relates to a crucial suicide scene, which underwent both conceptual and duration adjustments. While specifics weren’t fully disclosed, insiders hint that the edit aims to present the scene with greater sensitivity while maintaining its narrative impact.

Moreover, dialogues across the film have also been subject to scrutiny. “Suitably modified the out-of-context reference of the Hon. President of India and replaced the dialogues as ‘Head of State’,” the report reads.

The censor board report also points out the replacement of certain dialogues. The original phrase ‘Ungli karna’ (point the finger) has been changed into ‘Usse use karo’ (use it) where deemed appropriate.

Another violent visual was changed from the film, with the reports reading, “Removed the visuals of the beheaded body…”

Similarly, references to the NSG (National Security Guards) have been changed to IISG whenever it has been uttered.

‘Jawan’ features an ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, and Sunil Grover. Adding to the star-studded lineup, Deepika Padukone is set to make a special appearance, enhancing the excitement surrounding the film.

Scheduled to hit theatres on September 7, ‘Jawan’ will be available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions, further extending its reach. The filmmakers have generated significant anticipation with teaser releases, multiple posters, and the launch of two songs from the film, all of which have been met with enthusiastic responses from the audience.
