The Khar police have successfully apprehended and arrested the individual responsible for the theft of diamond earrings from Arpita Khan Sharma’s residence. The suspect, identified as Sandip Hegde, hails from the Ambewadi slums in Vile Parle East. Hegde was employed as a domestic staff member, specifically working in housekeeping, at Arpita Khan Sharma’s house.

In her complaint to the police, Arpita reported that her diamond earrings, valued at five lakhs, were stored in the makeup tray and had disappeared. The incident occurred on May 16, and the suspect was apprehended on the same night.

Senior Inspector Mohan Mane of the Khar Police, along with a team consisting of PI Vinod Gaonkar, PSI Laxman Kakde, PSI Gawli, and detection staff, formed a group to apprehend the suspect. Sandip Hegde, who had been employed for the past four months among a staff of 11 individuals at the high-rise, fled without notifying anyone after committing the theft.

The stolen items were found and retrieved from Hegde’s residence, and he has been placed in police custody. Hegde has been charged under section 381 (theft by servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Arpita resides on 17th road with her husband, actor Aayush Sharma, and their two children, Ayat and Ahil.
