Entertainment: Acclaimed actress Sai Pallavi recently shared her thoughts on missing out on the National Award for her powerful performance in Gargi. The prestigious honor ultimately went to Nithya Menen for Thiruchitrambalam. In a candid interview with Galatta Plus, Sai revealed that winning the National Award had always been a dream—not just for professional recognition, but for a deeply personal reason.

The sentimental reason behind her National Award dream

Sai Pallavi disclosed that she had long aspired to win the National Award because she wanted to wear a special saree gifted by her grandmother. Recalling the heartfelt memory, she said, “When I was around 21, my granny gave me a saree and said, ‘Wear this for your wedding.’ At that time, she was very sick and had undergone surgery. Back then, I thought marriage was next, as I hadn’t done my first film yet.” As her career took off with Premam, Sai’s perspective changed. She explained, “Then I thought, okay, someday I’ll win some big award. At that time, the National Award was the highest honor I could imagine. So, for me, the National Award is directly connected to that saree.”

‘Audience connection matters more than awards’

Despite missing out on the award, Sai Pallavi remains unfazed, emphasizing that audience appreciation is what truly matters to her. “If people are able to feel what my character feels on-screen, that’s my job done. Whatever comes after that is just a bonus. I value this more than any award.” Following the announcement, many of her fans expressed disappointment on social media, believing she was deserving of the honor for her performance in Gargi.

Sai Pallavi’s recent and upcoming projects

After Gargi, Sai Pallavi continued to impress audiences with her performances in Amaran and Thandel. In Amaran, she portrayed an army officer’s wife, sharing the screen with Sivakarthikeyan. In Thandel, she played the estranged lover of a fisherman who accidentally drifts into Pakistani waters. The talented actress is now gearing up for her Bollywood debut, where she will star alongside Junaid Khan. Additionally, she has bagged a pivotal role in Ramayana, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor.
