Actor Rana Daggubati recently opened up about the profound impact of his health struggles at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon.

The star underwent a kidney transplant and cornea surgery in recent years. Reflecting on that difficult period, Rana revealed how illness changed his worldview and even his personality.

"When you enter a life-threatening zone, you start looking at life very differently," he told the audience. Although being treated at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in the US, Rana still felt discontent.

His perspective shifted from being self-centered to realizing "that's not how things should be." The experience made him recognize what truly matters in life.

Rana also admitted he turned "mean" due to the constant pain and stress of his condition. After bulking up for blockbuster Baahubali, he resented people questioning if he was ill and refused to address their concerns.

"I started becoming a slightly mean person," he said regretfully. "There was a point when if people asked about my health, I said unless you can donate a kidney or an eye, don’t ask about it. I didn’t like what I was doing."

By candidly sharing his struggles, Rana displayed humility and self-awareness. His journey shows how grappling with one's mortality can profoundly alter attitude and character.

Rana's readiness to admit his flaws while enduring immense hardship makes his triumph over adversity all the more inspiring. He has emerged wiser and more grounded, with a renewed sense of what matters beyond fame and success.
