The 96th Academy Awards nominees have been announced, and there are two notable omissions from the list: Margot Robbie, who starred in Barbie, and Greta Gerwig, who directed the film. In addition to these noteworthy exclusions, Leonardo DiCaprio, star of Killers of the Flower Moon, did not receive a nomination for Best Actor. But Oppenheimer found itself on top of the world as it topped the list with over thirteen nominations, followed by Poor Things with ten and Killers of the Flower Moon (minus the male lead) with eleven. Lily Gladstone, Leonardos co-star, will be up for an Oscar. In order to compete in this category, a film must fulfil at least two of the four representation and inclusion standards. The goal of the regulation is to boost the representation of historically underrepresented communities on screen and, consequently, their employment, including women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and racial, ethnic, and disability groups.
