History has been scripted. Dreams of so many Indians have come true at Oscars, as team of movie RRR have bought glory to the country. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s period action blockbuster RRR created history by becoming the first Indian track to win the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category for Naatu Naatu at Oscars Awards 2023. The song was nominated along with other songs in the category. The songs that were nominated in the category were ‘Applause’ from “Tell It Like a Woman”, ‘Hold My Hand’ from “Top Gun: Maverick”, ‘Lift Me Up’ from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and ‘This Is a Life’ from “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.

The Naatu Naatu song composed by MM Keervaani and penned by Chandrabose has already won two awards. This is their third major international win after the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards. This is the first Telugu song to be nominated at the Oscars. In ‘Naatu Naatu’, Charan and Jr. NTR dance together to the song’s infectious beat, celebrating the inclusiveness and camaraderie of dance. The Telugu word for the track’s title is bucolic. With a duration of more than 4.35 minutes, which exemplifies the fun-loving nature of country music. The song was shot on the Presidential Palace lawn of Kyiv in Ukraine. According to information, in an interview SS Rajamouli disclosed that choreographer Prem Rakshith came up with over 100 hook steps for the song.

Reportedly, the singers of the Naatu Naatu song, Rahul Sipligunj and Kala Bhairava also performed the song at the Oscars ceremony.
