Renowned veteran lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar has recently shared his enthusiastic review of the Christopher Nolan-directed film ‘Oppenheimer’. The biopic, which is based on the life of J Robert Oppenheimer, the ‘father of the atomic bomb’, has received universal acclaim worldwide, and Javed Akhtar has joined the list of admirers of the film.
Taking to Twitter, Javed Akhtar praised Cillian Murphy-starrer Oppenheimer, calling it ‘not just a good film but a great film.’
“Watched Oppenheimer 6pm show at pvr Juhu today. It’s not just a good film but a great film…” Akhtar posted on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
In response to a person who asked him to explain the term ‘isotope’, Javed Akhtar took the opportunity to explain the term and also highlighted that the film is primarily a story of a human being who happens to be a scientist.
“Isotope is the smallest unit of matter that has all the qualities of an element. But knowing this is not necessary to understand the film; it is a story of a human being, who happens to be a scientist,” said Javed Akhtar.
Although Javed Akhtar’s explanation of ‘isotope’ was incorrect – he explained ‘atom’ instead – it was a nice attempt at a putdown of the internet troll.
Despite this minor gaffe, many people agreed with Akhtar’s take on the film, with one person calling it “one of the greatest ever”. Another person wrote, “Christopher Nolan is happy. This is going to boost attendance.”
It seems Javed Akhtar’s review has influenced many people who now seem to have decided to watch Oppenheimer, regardless of any other review or rating, which will only be good news to the film which has earned ₹67.85 crore in six days in India.
