Massive fire breaks out during Chhaava screening in Delhi: What happened next? WATCH

Delhi: On Wednesday night during the screening for 'Chhaava', a huge fire erupted in New Delhi's Select City Walk Mall. According to reports, a fire broke out at approximately 5:44 PM and within a few moments of the initial alarm, six fire tenders were dispatched. The fire was completely under control within 10 minutes and no one was reported injured.

In the aftermath, a mall representative issued an official statement that they are aware of the short circuit incident which happened at the adjoining multiplex and they are assisting the multiplex team and the authorities and extending full cooperation to them.There was no harm to anyone present there. Routine operations at Nexus Select City Walk remain unaffected.

A social media video of the incident filmed the area paved the way for speculation around the fire. One of the audience who went to watch Chhaava, Veer Singh explained that when people realized, fire broke out inside the hall and smoke was billowing, people started screaming. Though it was a small fire. As the fire alarm went off, cinema hall staff came in and asked everybody to exit swiftly. 

Chhaava is now available on Netflix

The movie 'Chhaava', released in 2025 and now available on Netflix, is directed by Laxman Utekar and is a period drama based on the legendary Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Vicky attends to the character of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son in the Maratha empire. On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna plays the role of his spouse Yesubai Bhonsale. The film also casts Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta to play important roles.

No more an Unsung Hero

Chhaava has already crossed Rs 350 crores in India and is on track to cross Rs 500 crores. Vicky Kaushal had earlier thanked people for their response towards Chhaava and in turn, posted a shot from the movie on his Instagram, saying 'Thank you everyone… Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj ki Jai. No more an Unsung Hero!'
