Marvin Levy, the legendary publicist who represented Steven Spielberg for more than half a century, died at age 96. Levy's passing was confirmed by Amblin Entertainment, the production firm established by Spielberg. Levy was widely regarded as an innovative and pioneering publicist within the film community. He was the only publicist to ever receive an Oscar, when in 2018 he was given an Honorary Academy Award for his "exemplary career in publicity that has brought movies to the minds, hearts, and souls of people everywhere."

A collaboration with Spielberg

Levy collaborated closely with Spielberg on some of his most enduring films, such as E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, and Saving Private Ryan. Spielberg described Levy's public relations skills as "fantastic," adding, "Marvin's passing is a huge loss to me and our industry at large. There are several great PR executives, but Marvin was unique."

A legacy of iconic films

Levy's career went far beyond Spielberg's movies, including credits on legendary films such as Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Gladiator. Five of the films he contributed to won the Best Picture award.

A life of achievement

Levy was awarded many accolades during his lifetime, including the Publicists' Guild's highest honor, the Les Mason Award, in 1994. He retired in 2024 at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy of creative public relations and a love of bringing movies to audiences worldwide.
