Married too young: Arjun Rampal reflects on divorce, men take longer to mature than women

On The Ranveer Show, Arjun Rampal shared that he married Mehr Jesia too soon, at 24. He believes that getting married at a young age can be a mistake, as there's still so much to learn and experience. Arjun humorously added that men tend to mature slower than women.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia divorced after nearly 20 years of marriage. Arjun recently shared his thoughts on their divorce and why he and his long-time girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades haven't felt like getting married yet. He believes that a successful marriage requires taking your time and not rushing into it.

Arjun talks about marriage & maturity

On The Ranveer Show, Arjun Rampal shared that he married Mehr Jesia too soon, at 24. He believes that getting married at a young age can be a mistake, as there's still so much to learn and experience. Arjun humorously added that men tend to mature slower than women and that waiting and gaining more life experience is key to a successful marriage.

He also said that though he has seen men being married to their childhood sweethearts and their relationships being successful, he feels those are just "miracles."

Arjun: I had come from a broken home

Arjun Rampal reflected on his divorce from Mehr, with whom he has two daughters namely Mahikaa and Myra, Arjun said, "It's very difficult; it is not easy on anyone, and it's the most difficult on children." Initially, he thought divorce would bring freedom, but soon realized it felt empty and lonely. He said you start to miss the comfort and security of home and family.

Arjun shared "I had come from a broken home when I was young and for me to not have succeeded in marriage was something which I really had to look back upon and see how did this go wrong and how did I not see... then I realised why it went wrong and what were the things, and I take responsibility for it." 

Arjun's second chance in love 

Despite the challenges of divorce, the 51-year-old actor said, he is grateful that everyone has moved forward positively. He, his girlfriend Gabriella, their two sons, his daughters from his previous marriage (Mahikaa and Myra) and his ex-wife Mehr Jesia all enjoy a loving and close relationship with each other.

"We will always have each other's back. You don't have to live under the same roof or be bound or separated by a piece of paper," Arjun said. Arjun feels grateful for a "second chance in love" with Gabriella, Both have been in a relationship since 2018. Although they haven't tied the knot and he cherishes their bond. 

"It's not about me or her, it's just that a marriage certificate is just a formality. We feel married already and that's certain in my mind. But sometimes having that official paper can change how people act toward each other. Legally, you're tied together and it might shift your attitude. In our hearts, we're already married," the actor said. He added that they are not opposed to the idea of marriage itself by choosing not to get the certificate.

Arjun's upcoming project

Arjun Rampal's most recent film appearance was in the movie Crakk, and he is currently engaged in filming his next project, a cinematic endeavor that boasts a talented cast, including Sanjay Dutt and Ranveer Singh, alongside whom he will share the screen.
