Rajasthan: In a dramatic turn of events, content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as ‘The Rebel Kid’, has been removed from the list of official ambassadors for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards. The decision follows a growing controversy over her recent appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show ‘India Got Latent’, where fellow YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate remark about parents.

IIFA drops Apoorva Mukhija from the ambassador list

Apoorva Mukhija was set to participate in Rajasthan Tourism’s treasure hunt shoot, a promotional event in collaboration with IIFA. However, an official statement from Diya Kumari’s office, Rajasthan’s tourism minister and deputy chief minister, confirmed her removal."It has been mentioned on behalf of IIFA that the name of social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija has been removed from the list of IIFA ambassadors. She is now not officially a part of the list of IIFA ambassadors," read the statement.

Karni Sena’s strong opposition and threats

The move follows intense backlash from Rajput Karni Sena, a right-wing group, which threatened to disrupt Apoorva’s planned shoot in Udaipur later this month. The group accused her of promoting obscenity and vulgarity, issuing a direct threat of physical confrontation."Such indecent and uncultured people who are bringing their culture on the road for their selfish interest and spreading vulgarity will not only be opposed in Mewar but will be beaten with shoes. If they land at Dabok Airport, they will be boycotted," said Dr. Paramveer Singh Dulawat, Rajput Karni Sena’s division head in Udaipur. He further warned the Tourism Department against allowing her entry into Mewar.

Planned shoot at iconic Udaipur locations canceled

The promotional shoot, which was scheduled for February 20, was set to take place at City Palace, Amarai Ghat, and Pichola Lake in Udaipur. However, due to rising tensions, the event now stands canceled.

Legal trouble for Apoorva Mukhija

Adding to her woes, Apoorva Mukhija and other influencers from the controversial ‘India Got Latent’ episode have been booked following a complaint filed in Kota, Rajasthan, on February 13. Authorities are now investigating the matter, and legal proceedings are expected to follow.
