Actor Kangana Ranaut took to social media to extend her congratulations to the winners of the 69th National Film Awards, which were unveiled on Thursday night.

Kangana also addressed her feelings about her own movie, ‘Thalaivii’, not receiving recognition during the press conference.

In an Instagram story, Kangana expressed her joy for all the National Film Awards recipients. “Congratulations to all #nationalawards2023. It is such an art carnival that brings all the artists across the country together. It’s truly magical to know and to get introduced to so much important work that’s happening across all languages,” she wrote.

Art is subjective: Kangana Ranaut on Thalaivii snub

Regarding her film ‘Thalaivii’, which was not among the awardees, she wrote, “All of you who are disappointed that my film Thalaivii didn’t win any [awards]… please know I am eternally grateful for whatever Krishna gave and didn’t give me and all of you who really love and appreciate me must appreciate my perspective as well… Art is subjective and I truly believe that the jury did their best…. I wish everyone the best,” ending her post with ‘Hare Krishna’.

Released in 2021, ‘Thalaivii’ is a biographical film that chronicles the life and challenges of the late J Jayalalithaa, a prominent Indian politician, actress, and multiple-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The movie features Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, portraying the iconic figure of Jayalalithaa. Directed by A L. Vijay, the film also starred Arvind Swamy, Nassar, Raj Arjun, Samuthirakani, Bhagyashree, and others.

The National Film Awards, announced in New Delhi, celebrated remarkable achievements in Indian cinema. Alia Bhatt (‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’) and Kriti Sanon (‘Mimi’) were honoured with the Best Actress awards, while Allu Arjun received the Best Actor (Male) award for his performance in ‘Pushpa’.
