Tamil industry’s esteemed director-actor G Marimuthu, who recently featured in Rajinikanth’s film Jailer, died on Friday, after suffering a major heart attack. He was just 57.
The news was confirmed by Ramesh Bala, South’s renowned trade analyst. He posted the information on X (earlier known as Twitter) on Friday.

Marimuthu became popular in the South for essaying crucial role in Tamil TV show Ethirneechal. He also worked as an assistant director with Mani Ratnam.

G. Marimuthu worked in the Tamil film industry and debuted as a director with Kannum Kannum (2008), after which he went on to make other ventures including Pulivaal (2014) and feature in supporting roles as an actor. As an actor, he was best known for the TV series Ethirneechal.
