Netflix announced the title of Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming thriller film, ‘Jaane Jaan’ on Friday. The film features Kareena Kapoor Khan in a crucial role alongside actors Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Verma. While Jaideep and Vijay Verma are OTT veterans, this film marks Kareena’s entry into the online streaming world.
This drama-thriller is said to be based on Keigo Higashino’s book ‘Devotion of Suspect X,’ which was written in Japan.
Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma are also going to play meaty roles in the movie. On Friday, Netflix shared an introductory video featuring a few clips from the movie. The video begins with Kareena’s character singing the classic song ‘Jane Jaan.’ A nod to the classics recently also came in light when Shah Rukh Khan danced to another classic song, ‘bekarar karke hume’ in the preview of ‘Jawan’ and fans couldn’t stop raving on the same. ‘Jaane Jaan’ has opted out for a similar root.
Earlier, Sujoy Ghosh had said in a statement, “Jaane Jaan is based on the book which has been the love of my life for a long long time. From the day I read Devotion of Suspect X, I wanted to adapt it into a film. It was the most amazing love story I had ever read and today thanks to Kareena, Jaideep and Vijay that story is alive on screen. We all worked very hard to tell this story and hopefully the audience will love it as much as we do.”
The teaser was shared by Netflix on social media on Friday. The caption read, “Jaane Jaan is coming on our very own Jaane Jaan’s birthday @kareenakapoorkhan. Mark your calendars for a present like no other. #JaaneJaan arrives 21 September, only on Netflix!”
Kareena Kapoor Khan will also be celebrating her birthday on September 21, 2023.
The short teaser introduces the dark and twisted world of the thriller, with Kareena’s character crooning the popular song – ‘Jaane Jaan’ Kareena can be seen in a dark room with neon light, whereas the characters of Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma are shown in quick succession. The teaser ends with a snapshot of quickly edited action, and then the title card appears.
