After facing the heat of controversy, on touching the feet of Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, South actor Rajinikanth on Monday ended the same by saying that it was his habit to fall at the feet of a ‘sanyasi’ or ‘yogi’, irrespective of the age of that person.

On the other hand, some of the people appreciated the gesture.

The remarks from the top actor came as a response to a media person asking him about his say on the contention people are making after he touched the feet of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently during his visit to Lucknow.

Here’s what Rajinikanth said:

In response to media persons, after returning to Chennai on Monday, the ‘Jailer’ actor said, “Whether a sanyasi or a yogi, it is my habit to fall at their feet even if they are younger than me. That’s what I did.” While talking to the media he also expressed his gratitude for making his film a success.

It is to be noted here that the filmstar’s gesture towards Uttar Pradesh’s CM Yogi has initiated an online ruckus, especially in Tamil Nadu, as many asked how can an actor with the age of 72-year-old touch the feet of a much younger person.

During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, a special screening of his film ‘Jailer’ was also organised by actor Rajinikanth which was attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. He also met Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav at his residence.
