Amid the intensified ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, Bollywood actor Nushrratt Bharuccha has been stranded in Israel, a member of her team said on Saturday. Reportedly, the actor visited the country for the 39th Haifa International Film Festival. Her film Akelli was selected for the prestigious film festival.
In a statement, one of her team’s members said, “Nushrratt has been unfortunately stranded in Israel. She had flown there to attend the Haifa International Film Festival.”
“The last time that I managed to get in touch with her was around 12.30 pm earlier today, when she was safe in a basement. For safety measures, further details cannot be disclosed. However, since then, we were not able to connect. We are trying to get Nushrratt back safely to India and hope she returns back in the best of health and unharmed,” he added.
Earlier, on Saturday, an unprecedented attack broke out between the militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Israel, killing as many as 200 people while over 1,000 were injured. ‘
The Hamas militants fired more than 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel, according to the Israeli military and also captured several Israeli soldiers near the border.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a video statement, said Israel “was at war” and said Hamas would “pay a price” for launching an attack on Israel.
Nushrratt Bharuccha-led thriller film Akelli was released on August 25 this year. Setting a story of Iraq, this movie showcases how a person realises her own capabilities in adverse situations like being trapped in the desert. The film, helmed by debutant filmmaker Pranay Meshram, was earlier scheduled to be released on August 18.
