IIFA Awards: Karan Johar, a name synonymous with Bollywood, was honored at IIFA 2024 for completing 25 years in the Indian film industry. The filmmaker, who has gifted fans with some of the most iconic films in Indian cinema, received a special award celebrating his journey. The moment was even more special as the award was presented by none other than Shah Rukh Khan, a frequent collaborator and friend of Johar.

Vicky Kaushal announced the honor, saying, “Today, IIFA honors Karan Johar for completing 25 years in the Indian film industry and creating a legacy for the ages.” Johar appeared visibly shocked as he made his way to the stage. Overwhelmed by the recognition, he touched Shah Rukh Khan’s feet as a gesture of respect before accepting the award.

Karan Johar's prowesses

Karan Johar made his directorial debut in 1998 with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, which went on to win the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Over the years, Johar has delivered several blockbuster hits like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), and My Name Is Khan (2010). His latest film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, was released in 2023, further cementing his position as a powerhouse in the industry.

Aside from directing, Karan has also excelled as a producer. This year, he co-produced the highly praised film Kill and Vicky Kaushal’s Bad Newz. Additionally, he served as the Hindi distributor for the Jr NTR starrer Devara and is co-producing Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film Jigra.
