Annu Kapoor has disclosed that he was forced to compromise and change his name to Annu since Anil Kapoor was already a hero while he was a “zero.” In a recent interview with the media, Annu recounted how he had to change his screen name to his pet name when he first entered the film industry.

Annu as a nickname

Although he was actually born Anil Kapoor, his family used to fondly call him Annu, and that nickname eventually became his screen name.

Anuradha, Anil, Anupam, Anees, and Anwar are names that are frequently shortened to Annu in India, according to Annu. He said, “So, my family also called me Annu and that became my screen name. I am grateful for all that I have received as Annu Kapoor.

I have always given my best. Waise, Anil ji se mera koi milna julna nahi hai (By the way, I do not meet Anil Kapoor).”

Annu was asked in the interview if he had ever considered giving up acting. Realistically responding, he told the media that he had never considered that way because beggars cannot be picky. He needed to care for his wife and three children. Farmers like him do not have the luxury of thinking such thoughts, he continued, only wealthy people can. He continued by saying that acting is neither his hobby nor his passion.

Famous roles played by Annu Kapoor

His roles in popular films like Hum, Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Ghayal, Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Aitraaz, 7 Khoon Maaf, Jolly LLB 2, and many others have made him a household name. Additionally, he holds a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, which he won for Vicky Donor by Shoojit Sircar.

Annu now has two more films scheduled after most recently appearing in Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2 and Irshaad Khan’s Non-Stop Dhamaal. Songs like Sab Moh Maya Hai and Hum Do Humare Baarah also feature him in interesting roles.
