Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the acting diva who has established herself as a mainstay in both Bollywood and Hollywood, turned 41 on Tuesday, July 18.

Chopra has built a stellar acting career since baking her debut way back in 2002, but her portfolio includes great performances from both eras of her life – her critically acclaimed films in Hindi, as well as her multi-genre products in the US.

In recent times, she has reduced her Bollywood work and is mostly seen in US productions, having played a diverse range of characters including the ‘Baywatch’ villain Victoria Leeds, to a multinational spy Nadia Sinh in ‘Citadel’.

Best TV show & cinema roles by Priyanka Chopra

As Priyanka Chopra turns a new leaf in her life, we look at the best performances from the Miss World 2000 winner.

Krrish (2006)

In the film, which certainly made her a bonafide star despite her relatively little screentime, Priyanka Chopra played the role of Priya, a journalist who turns into a confidante of the titular superhero played by Hrithik Roshan.

Mary Kom (2014)

Priyanka Chopra essayed the role of MC Mary Kom in her biopic in a performance that was gritty and energetic as well as humane. While she received praises for her performance, the casting of a North Indian actor to play a Manipuri sporting icon brought in a lot of – quite legitimate – criticism from fans.

Bajirao Mastani (2015)

Priyanka played the role of Kashibai, the wife of Peshwa Baji Rao I, in this period film. This was one of the most praised roles of her career, with particular praises reserved for her Maharashtrian tone, as well as her glamorous look as a royal lady.

Barfi! (2012)

While Barfi! received critical acclaim and was India’s official entry for the 2013 Oscars, Chopra’s performance somewhat flew under the radar. However, her role as Jhilmil Chatterjee, an autistic woman who serves as the friend and love interest of the titular Barfi, stole everyone’s hearts. The fact that she did not win a Filmfare award for this movie is still a contention for her fans.

The Sky Is Pink (2019)

This film tugged at the heartstrings of everyone, and Priyanka’s role as the mother of Aisha Chaudhury was a restrained exercise at portraying parental love. Priyanka, playing the role of Aditi Chaudhury, provided a powerhouse performance, despite the film’s focus being on Zaira Wasim. She received a Filmfare nomination, but like before, she was overlooked in favour of Alia Bhatt.
