The official teaser for the upcoming series ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ was revealed by its creators on Friday evening.

Director Hansal Mehta took to Instagram and Twitter to share the teaser, which he captioned, “To move forward in life, one must dare to be bold, darling! Here it is. #Scam2003. The series, directed by Tushar Hiranandani of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ fame, is scheduled to be available for streaming on the ‘Sony Liv’ OTT platform starting from September 2.

Veteran theatre artist Gagan Dev Riar, who was previously seen in ‘Sonchiriya’, will play the lead role in the series.

‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ is a continuation of Hansal Mehta’s 2020 critically acclaimed hit ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’. The narrative of ‘Scam 2003’ is based on the Hindi book ‘Reporter ki Diary’, written by journalist Sanjay Singh, who was the first person to expose the details of the scam.

The series delves into the events of Abdul Karim Telgi’s Stamp Paper Scam of 2003. The show offers an intriguing storyline, tracing Abdul Karim Telgi’s path from a fruit seller in his hometown of Karnataka’s Khanapur to his rise as the mastermind behind one of India’s most elaborate scams, spanning across 18 states and implicating several top police officials and politicians. The estimated value of the scam was around ₹30,000 crores.

‘Scam 2003’ teaser wows fans, comment sections filled with excitement

Following the teaser’s release, fans flooded the comments section with red heart and fire emojis.

The comment section of the YouTube video of the teaser, which has almost 3 million views in less than one day, was filled with positive comments, such as, “One of the best bgm ever made in Indian cinema history,” “Only they can make a villain a hero in the eyes of it’s viewers… Never stop this series of SCAM,” and “This series should never end.”
