"Poet Kumar Vishwas Takes Aim at Shatrughan Sinha in Meerut Event" (Instagram)

Entertainment News: Renowned poet Kumar Vishwas ignited a heated debate during a recent poetry event held in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, with comments that many interpreted as veiled criticisms directed at veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha. Although he did not mention them by name, Vishwas's remarks suggested a connection to the Sinha family's recent interfaith marriage.

Controversial Remarks Spark Outrage

Vishwas stated, “Teach your children the Ramayana. Otherwise, it might happen that while your house is named 'Ramayana,' someone else may take away the 'Lakshmi' of your household.”

This statement was perceived as a pointed jab at Shatrughan Sinha, whose residence is named "Ramayana," and Sonakshi Sinha, who recently married Zaheer Iqbal from a Muslim family. The implication of his words has led to widespread discussions on social media, with many netizens interpreting them as an indirect critique of the Sinha family's choices.

Context of the Comments

During his address, Vishwas elaborated further: "Apne bachhon ko Sita Ji ki behnon aur Bhagwan Ram ke bhaiyon ke naam yaad karaiye. Ek sanket de raha hoon, jo samajh jayein unki taliyan uthtein. Apne bachhon ko Ramayan padhwayi aur Geeta sunwayi. Anya tha aisa na ho ki aapke ghar ka naam to 'Ramayan' ho aur aapke ghar ki Shree Lakshmi ko koi aur uthakar le jaye.”

(Teach your children the names of Sita Ji’s sisters and Lord Ram’s brothers. Here’s a hint - teach them the Ramayana and make them listen to the Gita. Otherwise, even though your house is named 'Ramayana,' someone else might take away the 'Shree Lakshmi' of your household.)

Previous Criticism Faced by Sonakshi

This incident is not the first time Sonakshi Sinha has faced scrutiny regarding her connection to Hindu epics. In 2019, actor Mukesh Khanna criticized her for an incorrect answer about the Ramayana on the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

Recently, Khanna reiterated his previous comments in an interview.Sonakshi responded to Khanna's remarks by labeling them "distasteful," accusing him of using her name for publicity. She asserted, “Stop bringing up the same incident to make news at the expense of me and my family.”

Defense from Shatrughan Sinha

In defense of his daughter, Shatrughan Sinha expressed his pride in Sonakshi and questioned Khanna's qualifications to comment on her upbringing. He stated, “What qualifies this person to be an expert on the Ramayana? Sonakshi is a daughter any father would be proud of.

Not answering a question on the Ramayana doesn’t disqualify her from being a good Hindu. She doesn’t need approval from anyone.”Mukesh Khanna responded by clarifying that his intentions were educational rather than malicious. He remarked, “There was no malicious intent,” acknowledging that he anticipated his comments would provoke a reaction.
