The trailer launch of the upcoming film ‘Gadar 2’ was held in Mumbai, and lead actors Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel turned up dressed as their characters in the film, Tara Singh and Sakeena.

As the on-screen couple entered the event, they were welcomed by a band of ‘dhol’ players on either side, and Sunny and Ameesha could not resist dancing to the tune. Sunny Deol was totally in the ‘Tara Singh’ mood, as he broke into a ‘bhangra’ dance.

The trailer launch event was attended by several cast members of the film, including Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra and others, as well as director Anil Sharma.

The event, despite being delayed by some time, had some heartwarming moments between the actors, especially the lead actors. At one point, Sunny Deol got emotional while speaking to the reporters, and Ameesha Patel consoled him and wiped his tear away.

Anil Sharma key to Ameesha Patel’s Gadar role, says actress

At the event, Ameesha Patel talked about how it was the support shown by director Anil Sharma that made her sign for the role of a mother in the first ‘Gadar’ film.

“When Anil Sharma narrated the story of Gadar to me, there were some of the biggest Bollywood personalities whom I met. I won’t like to name them. They told me, ‘What kind of role is this that you are doing? Why are you doing this?’” she told the reporters.

Ameesha further said, “This was the time when I was doing a film with Salman Khan, in which I was playing a college-going girl. I was working on a film with Ajay Devgn, in which he played a professor while I again was a college student. I was also working on two films with Hrithik Roshan – Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage.

“In both these films, I was yet again playing a young girl. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai had not even released and everyone was of the opinion that ‘you will not be able to play the role of a mother’.

“But I like challenges and going out of my comfort zone. I also had faith in my director [Anil Sharma]. He’s brilliant. And such a beautiful love story, nobody has written before, and nobody will write in the future.

“It was difficult but Anil ji used to patiently guide me at every step to ensure I look like a mother and not a college student. He worked with me on dialogues, looks, et ceterea for six months. We used to sit for 12 hours a day.”

‘Love on both India, Pak; political games crate hatred’: Sunny Deol at ‘Gadar 2’ trailer launch

Sunny Deol, addressing the media, also took on the recent political tensions between India and Pakistan and said that there is love between the people on both sides of the border.

“The essence lies in humanity, not in taking or giving. A conflict between the two sides should not prevail. There is love on both side. It is the political game that creates all this hatred. And you will see the same in this film as well that the people do not want us to fight with each other. At the end, we are both from the same soil,” he said.

‘Gadar 2’ will hit the theatres on August 11, where it is expected to clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’. Watch the ‘Gadar 2’ trailer here…
